I remember that the old VW manuals always had a section with a drawing showing the headlight high beam and low beam adjusting pattern. You could park your bug in front of a wall and use the dimensions from the pattern to adjust your headlights correctly.The "slanted" bumper over-riders were the final step in VW's "tranistion". On stock wheels (4 inch wide). I also felt like the steering wasn't as good.
